The sisterhood of the traveling pants by Ann Brashares
reviewed by Mrs. Seifert
I would like to recommend The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares. It is a light-hearted book about four girls in high school who spend the summer apart. They use a pair of jeans as a way to stay connected during their separate adventures. I enjoyed getting to know each of the girls with their different personalitiies and life stories. And if you like this book, there are three more in the series!

My Last Skirt: the story of Jennie Hodgers by Linda Durant
My favorite genre is historical fiction. This is a wonderful book about a woman who emigrated from Ireland. In order to earn a living, she wanted to serve in the army during the Civil War. At that time in history, women did not serve in the Army. Jennie Hodgers served in the 95th Illinois Infantry as Private Albert Cashier, a Union soldier in the American Civil War. Read this great book and learn all about Jennie's trials and tribulations because of her desire to wear her "last skirt."
